I have used two or three, but I would recommend Xero. A company based I believe in New Zealand, they obviously have some ties in the UK, as they have adapted their software for over here.

These reviews are intentionally meant to be brief, so all I will say is I run two business through Xero, our bank feeds are automatic, meaning I do not even have to upload our bank statements. Reconciling is made easy and in fact the whole system is easy to use. Support is good too.

So take a look, have a trial and it may well help your small business a great deal. Oh, and anyone who says they can run their book keeping fine using a spreadsheet……rubbish! if you seriously want to make a success of your business, then accounting software will help you no end.

If you are looking to create invoices and be able to send them as a pdf or via email, then this software may be all you need. It only offers simple features and is not as advanced in its functionality as many others, but it’s the only truly free one I could find that has no limits on the amount of clients or invoices you send each month.

Simple to use, well laid out and a pleasure to recommend.
